Our Why
Your journey doesn't have to be a guessing game.
ExcelliSpace was born from a simple belief: every student and early professional deserves the confidence that comes with knowing exactly where they're headed and why. Choosing your college major in your late teens shouldn't feel overwhelming—it should feel empowering. Meet Dr. Alinda Mashiku - Someone Who Gets It.
Like many students, she questioned her path many times, wondering if she belonged in STEM, and even considered giving up. Those moments of doubt? They became her superpower as she learned how to pivot and thrive and sharing those lessons learned to help and guide others.
Dr. Alinda Mashiku's Bio
Dr. Mashiku wasn't always the confident Leader, Mentor and NASA Engineer you see today. Like many students, she once questioned her path, wondered if she belonged in STEM, and even considered giving up during various challenging moments in her journey. Those moments of doubt? They became her superpower as she learned how to pivot and thrive, while staying focused on her academic and career goals.
Today, after navigating those challenging moments and emerging stronger, Dr. Mashiku has spent 18 years helping students and early professionals find their way. From teenagers unsure about college majors to graduate students working through their thesis and dissertations, she's been a resource and guide for every stage of the journey—because she's walked it herself. She has mentored dozens of early careers in various engineering fields and developed tools for charting and tracking goals towards a successful career.
As a Technical Program Manager at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, she leads a large team of engineers responsible of monitoring and keeping ~100 NASA satellites from colliding against each other or the other 30,000 space objects (pretty cool, right?). Her specialty is in the astronautical engineering fields of Astrodynamics/Orbital Mechanics and Satellite Navigation also known as Orbit Determination. She enjoys various research activities in addition to AI/ML research and applications for space. Dr. Mashiku is a recently Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certified AI/ML Practitioner (she is a continuous learner!) But what drives her most is ensuring no student or early career feels as lost as she once did. She's mentored dozens of engineers, developed goal-tracking tools that actually work, and co-founded The Joule Foundation to inspire young girls in Africa in the pursuit of a STEM career.
With degrees from The Ohio State and Purdue University, Dr. Mashiku combines real-world experience with genuine empathy. She remembers what it felt like to struggle, and she's here to help you turn those struggles into stepping stones toward success.
